Osaka Castle was built in the 16th century during the Warring States Period. Later, it was burned down. The present-day castle was built with donations from the citizens of Osaka. Thanks to a large-scale refurbishment in 1997, the lusty golden dolphins on the top of the castle roof have been restored to their former glory.  Now, the castle building serves as a historical museum. From the top floor of the donjon, you can see the whole city of Osaka. The nearest station is Osakajokoen Station on the JR loop line.
