A slow stroll about the popular Higashiyama area is great for enjoying
the World Heritage Kyomizu-dera Temple known for Otowa Falls whose waters
are said to cure all ills, Kodai-ji Temple built by Mandokoro Kitano (also
known as Nene), wife of the warlord Hideyoshi Toyotomi, to honor her husband
after his death, Rokuharamitsu-ji Temple built by the Monk Kuya, Yasakano-to
Pagoda, which is a landmark of Higashiyama, and the preservation districts
of traditional architecture in Sanneizaka and Gion Shinmachi.
